Abstract The research starting from the acceleration of digital diera technology in the industrial revolution 4.0 is undeniable and, especially for field agricultural extension workers is the spearhead of the success of agricultural development in the regions. The purpose of this study is to analyze how digital communication can be useful in agricultural extension in the era of revolution 4.0, the methodology used is descriptive qualitative, data collection through observation, interviews and documentation, primary data sources of 14 people and secondary data sources such as reference books, internet sourching, and field studies. The results of the study that the extension system is a system of delivering innovations from technological sources to users (farmers) using various approaches and existing methods according to conditions, so that innovations can be utilized by users to increase income and welfare The agricultural extension system can use the approach of: (1) agro-ecosystem; (2) territory; (3) agribusiness; (4) institutional; and (5) welfare. The extension system approach is more directed at growing the regional economy (local economy) so that it can reach all life activities in the social system.
